First, find a certified Metabolic Balance® consultant. He or she will take along the good and tough times, so it should be someone you trust and feel completely comfortable with. Your consultant will support you through each of the four phases in the programme. At your first appointment, your consultant will take notes on your medical history and will request a blood test. Your consultant will provide everything you require to do this. All blood test results and data are compiled and analysed at the Metabolic Balance® Institute, where your personal nutrition plan will be created.
Your consultant will give you a copy of your plan and will fully explain all the stages necessary for you to reach your goal. She/he will guide and support you the whole way through the programme and will always be on hand to answer your questions.
Step 1: the first step is a blood test. Your consultant will provide you with a form that you can take to the lab, and the results will get sent directly to him/her.
Step 2: a detailed analysis of your blood panel will determine how we can best support you and your body’s unique needs.
Step 3: we engineer a food plan that is totally unique to you. This plan is designed to support and nourish your body so eating leaves you feeling satisfied and comfortably full. Your coach will then support you through any challenges you face during each phase of the process. He/she will there to cheer you on as you change your life!
Step 4: this is where you see results. Most clients report weight loss, an overall sense of wellbeing, and excitement to keep going. Food cravings and unhealthy eating habits disappear because your body is getting exactly what it needs. Most begin to feel youthful, confident, and happy once again.

Average weight reduction ranges from three to six kilograms per month. Success fuels a positive attitude and will keep you inspired. Old habits are replaced with new healthy ones. Your energy will increase. The body’s innate wisdom to make healthy choices will appear, once a state of balance is achieved.
You are not alone! Metabolic Balance® recognises that personal support is critical to overall success therefore the plan includes personal coaching and guidance. Your consultant will be your guide through difficult phases. He/she will help create an easy path towards your health goals. Everyone needs support when changing outdated eating patterns.
There are four phases:
Phase 1 – The preparation phase – starts the detoxification process and is key in preparing your metabolism for the next stage of the programme. Phase 1 lasts for two days.
Phase 2 – The strict adjustment phase lasts for a minimum of 14 days. You will have the option to remain on this phase until you have reached your desired goal. During this phase your metabolism will slowly start to adjust and become more efficient.
Phase 3 - The relaxed adjustment phase. During this phase you can begin to bring in additional foods to your daily meal plan. With your body's new heightened sense of awareness, you should instinctively know which foods are right for you. You can also now enjoy the occasional 'treat' meal or even enjoy a glass of wine. More importantly you will learn how to have a healthy approach to these special occasions. Your coach will continue to support you and monitor your progress during this phase.
Phase 4 - The maintenance phase is the final phase. Participants can stay on this phase for the rest of their lives by following the already familiar principles. Even at this stage you will be able to remain in contact with your coach or with us via our internet forum.
No. The success of Metabolic Balance® is dependent on the supervision of a qualified consultant. Coaching has been shown to greatly improve your chances of success. All our consultants have the specialist knowledge and experience to help you overcome obstacles and will prove vital in reaching your goal.
Your nutrition plan with Metabolic Balance® is extremely versatile. With the help of your consultant, you can easily plan your meals in advance. Your consultant will give you tips on being creative and show you how to take meals with you on busy days. In addition, you will learn how to apply the Metabolic Balance® principles when eating out at restaurants as well as at home.
It is important to leave gaps between meals and to avoid snacking. Your body needs this time not only to fully digest the last meal, but also to rest and to repair. During this time the body is able to move into a ‘fat-burning’ metabolism. Eating between meals disrupts metabolism, as well as the normal fat-storage and fat-burning process.
No. Once your metabolism has adjusted and you have reached your goal weight, you will move onto the relaxed and then the maintenance phase. You will be able to maintain your success by following most of the 8 principles you have learned. Rest assured, like most of the other participants, you will notice which foods suit you best. If at any point you find yourself relapsing, you can simply return to the strict adjustment phase to get yourself back on track again.
Yes, especially during phase two. Your personal nutrition plan is not a product of chance, but has been created using your blood values and medical history. This makes your plan as unique as your fingerprint. The selected foods support your metabolism and provide you with the nutrients that were previously lacking in your diet. Enjoy trying new foods and being creative with the foods on your plan. Your coach can help you with recipe ideas. In phases 3 and 4 you are actually encouraged to bring in new foods that were not on your food list.
Yes, especially during phase 2 where you should follow your plan to the letter. Once you have reached your goal, you can discuss how to relax the amounts with your Metabolic Balance® consultant.
Although you may be eating less food than before, you should still feel satisfied at the end of each meal. This is because the foods you are eating are nutrient dense, so that you are still getting all the nutrients your body needs. It is important to drink sufficient water in between meals to keep you feeling energized. If you feel tired during the first few days of strict adjustment phase, give yourself and your body time to rest, drink plenty of water and make sure you get enough sleep.
If you do not consume any form of animal protein (such as eggs or dairy) and if you avoid soya-derived products, unfortunately the Metabolic Balance® programme would not work for you.
Pregnant women and nursing mothers should not participate in the Metabolic Balance® programme. Patients with severe renal or hepatic insufficiency are also excluded from participation. If you are under medical treatment because of your weight, or if you are taking physician prescribed medications for an illness, you should first consult with your doctor about participation in Metabolic Balance®.
If weight reduction is inadvisable due to illness or trauma, your physician should decide on your participation in Metabolic Balance®. In such cases, always consult with your physician prior to beginning a weight loss programme.
Yes. This will be taken into consideration during the development of your plan and adjustments will be made accordingly. Simply by taking part in the programme, you will be doing something positive for your health, fitness and vitality. Many popular diets often provide a shortage of energy, fats or carbohydrates which can result in food cravings and the so-called yo-yo effect. Metabolic Balance® works differently. Your plan is your plan. It is produced for you using your unique blood values, your metabolism and your current nutritional status and is designed to provide you with sufficient energy, proteins, fats and carbohydrates.
